Each season Peter Ferreira presents violin master classes and workshops at local and international schools, music camps and private studios around the world to students of all ages and levels.
Master classes give students the opportunity to meet and hear other young musicians of an exceptional standard, and benefit from the interaction with distinguished guest performers whose insight and experience exemplify the highest levels of musical achievement. Over the years we have had many return visits from musicians who maintain that our program is a great value to their music life.
In order that participants can obtain full value from a master class or workshop, Mr. Ferreira will accept no more than 12 students per group class. Each participant will receive, at least, one individual lesson during the week. As we receive a considerable number of inquiries, it is advisable to apply as early as possible. In some cases selected participants have an opportunity to perform in front of our enthusiastic audiences. In addition, a concert given by the professor and/or faculty may also be scheduled.
Depending on venue, there will be sitting room for students and/or guests to attend as members of the audience. Resident accompanists (piano, etc...) are available per request, but participants can also bring their own. Practice / warm-up rooms will also be available.
Mr. Ferreira's master classes are based on the traditional violin master class setting, lecture and “hands on” approach. Participant’s repertoire can include works from the standard violin repertoire to Rock, Jazz, Pop and World Music to name a few.
Some of the topics which are taken up at the master classes and workshops are:
Tone / sound development
Learning how to practice / The art of practicing
Surviving in the music world
Participation is limited and may require a teacher recommendation. There are participant application deadlines for each Master Class / Workshop. For more information about participation or to attend as a member of the audience, please contact the studio.
"Mr. Ferreira has a way of taking something that seems way above my level of understanding and can explain, even demonstrate it, in simple terms. I think his love of music is magnified through his even greater gift - teaching!"
Judy O'Connor, Ridgefield CT
"..he teaches the whole piece, the melody, the chords, the harmonies and backup parts. It's learning in depth, not just how to play notes, but how to get inside the music."
